Cowboys VS Tigers

The Cowboys defence has been shocking all season, and there are few bright spots right now with all their injuries. The Cowboys halves have been constantly attacked close to the line with them conceding the most tries in the league to edge rowers. In 3 of the last 4 games, the Cowboys have conceded to the opposition right edge rower. Luciano Leilua has scored in 2 of his last 4 matches and is always a threat close to the line.

The Cowboys have conceded a league-high 19 tries to left-wingers so far this season, and their defence on that side doesn’t look like it’s about to improve any time soon. In 4 of their last 6 matches, the cowboys have conceded a double to a left side opposing back. Ken Maumalo has scored multiple tries in 4 of his 6 scoring matches and is entering form with the Tigers, scoring 2 doubles in his last 3 matches.

Sea Eagles VS Eels

The Eels have conceded tries to left centres in 4 of their last 5 matches. When these teams met earlier in the season, Parker had a dominating performance and bagged 2 tries.

The Dragons have been struggling against right edge rowers all season, but this has been more prevalent over the last few weeks. The Dragons have conceded to this position in 5 of their last 6 matches. Liam Martin is an underrated player as he’s usually overlooked with his interchange designation. This week Martin gets the start and will likely be playing next to Nathan Cleary. Cleary will likely be handing the ball off for smash plays close to the line rather than run it in himself as he recovers from injury.

Broncos VS Roosters

Sam Walker has had an up and down rookie season but his offensive output has overshadowed his defensive lapses. Walker has scored in half of the matches he has played in this season, mostly against the lower-tier competition. The Broncos have shown weaknesses up the middle all season and have conceded 3 tries to halves over the past 2 weeks.

Daniel Tupou is starting to heat up at the business end of the season and is being afforded more opportunities with the plethora of Roosters injuries. Tupou will line up opposite Xavier Coates who in my opinion is one of the biggest defensive liabilities in the NRL.

The Raiders have been weak in defence on their right edge in recent weeks and have allowed 6 tries to left-wingers over the last 4 weeks. Addo-Carr is still in the hunt for the top try scorer and the Storm will give him every opportunity possible to win the award.

The Raiders have conceded the second most tries to halves so far this season at 13. Jahrome Hughes has been in terrific try-scoring form all season and gets a terrific matchup to build on his 9 tries this season.
