Seppo’s Monday Madness Week 9
I was really hoping to never again be forced to watch Joe Flacco in primetime. This will be an interesting matchup as the Patriots defense is great at taking away what the offense is best at. Sadly, the Jets are terrible at everything, so I don’t exactly know what will be taken away. Joe Flacco has struggled against any kind of pass rush, since he stopped wanting to take hits after he turned 30. This is what happens when you get paid $100 million, have a ring, and don’t really seem to love football.
The Jets running game has been improving week by week, as has the Patriots. I don’t see either of these teams being able to stop the run, especially a Jets outfit without Williams up front. The Jets having all of their weapons back should help their running game, as it would be risky for the Patriots to stack the box, due to their lack of pass rush if Flacco goes deep.
I like the over, as both teams are really lacking in talent on the back end, as terrible as these teams offenses have been.
Both teams have young skill position players who can only get better, and certainly can’t get any worse. Look for both teams to pull out all the stops to not get beat by their main rival. I like both passing overs, I always hit the Frank Gore over, and I still like Berrios over 16.5 yards even with some returning players pushing him down the depth chart. As much as I like Damien Harris, this seems like a game where the Patriots are going to mess with the matchups quite a bit.
