Caveman’s NFL previews #6

Week 5 Tuesday Night Football

Buffalo Bills @ Tennessee Titans

Matchup Insight

In a very rare spectacle tonight we are to be treated to Tuesday night football. Not only that, but this is a matchup of undefeated teams who both have playoff aspirations. On the surface, with 24 COVID-19 positive results and the Titans getting critiqued for their illegal scrimmages this game looks like a slam dunk. However, with the spot that these teams are in, this may not be the case.

The Bills have the Chiefs on deck, who will be reeling after a severe loss to the Raiders. This game was supposed to be Thursday, now postponed to Monday, meaning with the uncertainty over this game, the Bills would have started preparing. The Bills will be without Matt Milano which is going to give a brilliant matchup to Titans TE Jonnu Smith.

Although not being allowed to practice together until the last couple of days, the Titans realistically had the previous two weeks to prepare and get ready for this Bills team mentally. The Titans are not without their inactives and questionables. The primary damage coming to their WR corps where AJ Brown(questionable) could be joining the punt returner, Kalif Raymond as one of only two receivers to have caught a ball this season. The running backs are going to be a good watch this week with two backs who have underperformed to start the season. Derrick Henry gets a more challenging matchup in a game he should be playing from behind. Still, Devin Singletary should get back on track with a plus matchup against the Titans run defence who have let in a mammoth 5.7 yards per carry.

The Last Word

Since moving the extra point back in 2015, these teams have played each other three times with the Bills winning all three competitions in tight low scoring affairs. Expect to see more of the same here with the Under 53.5 looking better than the spread. The Titans could be reeling from their recent test results and let the Bills away with a big 20+ point win, so there is some value there. Tennessee needs to keep like Donald Trump and stay positive.
