Week 5 Monday Night Football

Los Angeles Chargers @ New Orleans Saints

Matchup Insight

Out of 3 potential late games this week it looks like we're going to see one and there was talk all week it could move to Indy. Drew Brees took a step up last week against the Lions and will have the same supporting cast this week because Michael Rocky Thomas enjoys punching his teammates.

The Chargers also had a good game last week even in the loss. Justin Herbert's long ball looked as pretty as a Swedish girl in spring. The key for this game is going to lie in the inactive list particularly on defence. The Saints had a slew of defensive starters miss the game last week, but that looks to be better this week with Davenport and Lattimore set to return to the field.

The Chargers are going to be without offensive talisman Austin Ekeler and Defensive wrecking ball Melvin Ingram, which counts for a massive loss on each side of the ball. Joey Bosa has been on the injury report this week and if he can't go the pass rush will be stale. The Saints have been strong against the run so far this year allowing only 3.6 YPC which should continue against the LA backups.

The Last Word

With question marks over the Chargers pass rush and Brees getting used to life without Rocky look for Alvin Kamara and Latavius Murray to help him move the chains. The deep Herbert passes that caught the Tampa secondary unawares last week won't be as easy to find now the cats out of the bag. The Saints have struggled so far on primetime, but that should progress to the mean on Monday night.
